Collection includes: an original manuscript of The Sounding Brass (published by Little, Brown, Boston, 1953) printer's copy, typescript with handwritten notations (646 numbered leaves); galley-proofs with handwritten corrections, printer's copy, 1st rev.; miscellaneous items used for exhibition of the book, including a copy in manuscript of the title page and photos and clipping of Miss Latham; correspondence (1951-1953) between Charles M. Adams, Librarian, and Miss Latham regarding placement of the manuscript of her book in the library of Woman's College.

Edythe Latham was born in Greensboro and graduated from Woman's College (now UNCG) in 1936. She married Bertram Bloch, story editor for the Twentieth Century Fox movie studio.
